VA Benefits: GI Bill

EFFECTIVE 1 OCT 2011 YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE POST 9/11 GI BILL WITH ACCESSIBLE AVIATION!

Use your GI Bill for your ATP Rating!

Approved for VA benefits. If you are eligible, the VA will pay 60% of ground and flight training with the MGIB. The Post 9/11 GI BILL will pay 100% of flight training beyond Private Pilot. The VA will also pay for FAA test fees and checkride examiner's fees.

Rapid GI Bill Reimbursement: Accessible files your claim electronically WHILE you are in training! Most students receive their money in 3-4 weeks. Ask you flight school if they file on-line or use paper (which usually takes months to get paid).

Use your GI Bill for our Professional Pilot Program Flight Training. Zero time thru Commercial Pilot and CFI. If you already have your PPL, we have a Commercial thru CFI program for you!

If you are Guard and Reserve and activated since 9/11, you may be eligible for REAP or Chapter 1607.

Did you know you can be an airline pilot making over $100,000 without a college degree?

It's true; the Regional Airlines have dropped their college degree requirement. Use your GI Bill to pay for Flight Training rather than a college degree.

New update to Post 9/11 GI Bill

Flight Training Under the Post-9/11 GI Bill

In order to qualify, you must have a private pilot's license and valid medical certification before beginning training. Payments are issued after the training is completed and the school submits information to the VA.

If you are in an approved flight training course you will receive your housing allowance and the books and supplies stipend. The Yellow Ribbon Program may apply for those enrolled in degree programs.

Approved Flight Training Courses

  • Currently if you are training under the Post-9/11 GI Bill you can only be paid if your flight training is in a program leading to a college degree and we will pay the approved charges not to exceed the state maximums.
  • Effective October 1, 2011 the following flight training reimbursement is approved under the Post-9/11 GI Bill:
    • If you are enrolled in any degree program that consists of flight training at a public Institution of Higher Learning you can be reimbursed up to the resident in-state cost of the training
    • If you are enrolled in any degree program that consists of flight training at a private Institution of Higher Learning you can be reimbursed up to the full cost of the training or $17,500 per academic year, whichever is less
    • If you are enrolled in any type of vocational flight training you can be reimbursed up to the full cost of training or $10,000 per academic year, whichever is less.

An academic year lasts from August 1 to July 31.

Update on 9/15/11: Annual limits apply for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. (Keep in mind that not
all students will be eligible for $10,000. What each student is
eligible for will be based on the amount of active duty time they have
and how much they have already used in benefits.  Each student will have to advise you as to their level of eligibility.  The student should contact
the toll-free number to get more information (888)442-4551.

It appears that the VA will reimburse the SCHOOL after the student COMPLETES the course. It is probable students will have to pay the schools for the courses and then get the money from the school after the VA sends the money to the school.

As of mid September it seems they are still finalizing the rules for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. check with the VA to determine your benefits!
